‘Fellow Creatures’ – a Heather Cook Solo Exhibition
May 2nd to May 30th, 2026
Canadian acrylic painter Heather Cook is exploring our relationship with the wild, through her debut solo art exhibition, ‘Fellow Creatures’. The exhibition will be held at Coles Art Market from May 2nd to May 30th, 2026. When we spend time in nature, among our fellow creatures, we begin to reconnect with something deeper, something instinctual, grounding, and quietly profound. ‘Fellow Creatures’ is a collection of works that explore this connection, inviting us to pause and consider our place within the natural world. The exhibition’s theme is captured by Heather’s own words “I’ve always felt most at home in nature. Ever since I was a little girl, I could usually be found mucking in the dirt, climbing trees, or trying to bring a neighbourhood critter home as a pet. That connection never left me, so when I began painting, it only felt natural that the outdoors would become my subject.” This sentiment echoes throughout her artwork, inviting viewers to explore their own experience and intuitive connections. Heather is a self-taught artist, who has worked endlessly to develop her skills and discover her own voice. “My work is rooted in the belief that nature has a quiet way of teaching us, inviting us to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves. Each animal I paint carries a sense of presence and meaning, often inspired by Canadian wildlife and the symbolism they hold.” After a beautiful completion of an Artist in Residency program at Chateau d’Orquevaux in France, Heather has been nestling back into her home studio working bring this brand new body of work and inspiration to life. “Fellow Creatures” will be on display at Coles Art Market from May 2nd to May 30th, free admission. An opening reception will be held at Coles Market on May 2nd, from 6pm to 9pm. We will have hors d’oeuvres and beverages as well to top off an incredible evening.
